Being A Developer
As I continue learning about the development industry I have transitioned through the variety of lessons. Land development, real estate law, finance, and business are a few of the topics that I have touched upon. Attempting to compress all this information can be overwhelming. Eventually, you have to just take the risk and go.
During my studies, the thing that interested me most is developers. Who are they? what are they about? Where do they come from? What do they want to accomplish? How do they get to where they’re going? Why do they do this?
Setting the academic portions aside, I want to know what makes developers developers. The main question is: are there necessary traits that are common to all developers?
I know of a few such as, being financially responsible and having the ability to measure and withstand risks. Developers need to know when to push forward and execute, while having the ability to manage emotions and stop moving forward on a project.
Beyond that, who are developers? Are there personality traits that are common? It is difficult to say. I have met a few developers and they have an array of personalities. Some were verbose and ultra competitive, while others were open and calm, yet still intense.
Where do I fit in with this? As I think further, I guess the first task of being a good developer is developing yourself and those personal qualities and characteristics will be transposed into your work and the product you deliver.
